SENTRY

An always-on webcam recorder that picks every camera you own, runs silent in the background, and wipes old footage on its own. No terminal. No setup. No noise.

What it is

A quiet guardian for every camera on your PC.

Sentry finds every webcam plugged into your computer, records what they see into small timestamped clips, and deletes the old ones on whatever schedule you set. It's what happens when you strip a security-camera DVR down to the thing you actually need.

📹

All your cameras, at once

Built-in laptop cam, USB webcams, capture cards — Sentry finds them, lets you pick which ones record, and runs them in parallel.

Pick your FPS

Dial in 5, 15, 30, or 60 fps per camera. Lower FPS saves disk, higher FPS catches everything.

🔊

Sound, if you want it

Record audio alongside video, or keep it silent. Toggleable per device.

Playback at any speed

Review footage at 1×, 2×, 4×, or 8× so you're not wasting an hour watching an empty room.

🧹

Self-cleaning

Set a retention window — 1 day, 7, 30, 90 — and Sentry wipes clips older than that automatically.

🕶️

Runs silent

No icon in the way, no popups, no console window. Starts with Windows, disappears.

One-click install

Download Sentry.

Save the file, double-click it, the install wizard opens. That's it. No command prompt flashes, no "extract this zip," no "run as administrator." Just the wizard.

Download SentryInstaller.hta

🛡 Windows will warn you. That's normal.

Sentry is a free independent tool and isn't code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen shows a blue or yellow warning the first time you run it. It is safe — here's how to get past the warning:

  1. Browser warning ("file isn't commonly downloaded") → click the next to the file and choose Keep.
  2. SmartScreen popup ("Windows protected your PC") → click More info, then Run anyway.
  3. "Publisher not verified" → click Open / Yes. The wizard launches.

Prefer to verify first? The installer is plain text — right-click SentryInstaller.htaOpen with → Notepad to read every line before running it.
